Controlled sedation or general anaesthesia

In order to feel as comfortable as possible and to get rid of fear, you can choose to be treated in controlled sedation or general anaesthesia.

The basic information can be found below. In addition, you may consult your doctor about this treatment.

Controlled sedation

• duration of treatment – up to 2 hours
• a patient is conscious, but is not fearful at all
• he/she partially cooperates with a dentist
• must be on an empty stomach (no food and drinks) for at least 3 hours before the visit (!)
• the patient arrives 30 minutes before the operation
• after the operation, he/she rests in the surgery for 30 minutes
• if he/she is accompanied by someone else, who drives a car, he/she may leave
• on the next day, the patient is fit
• can be applied to children as well

General anaesthesia

• duration of the treatment – 1 to 3 hours
• the patient is not conscious, has been intubated
• the patient arrives 45 minutes before the operation
• must be on an empty stomach (no food and drinks) for at least 6 hours before the visit (!)
• after the operation, he/she rests in the surgery for 1 hour
• if he/she is accompanied by someone else, who drives a car, he/she may leave
• on the next day, the patient is fit
• can be applied to children over 6, weighing at least 20 kg
• no inconvenience for younger and healthy adults
